The True Ames twinzer set — two main fins plus two canards, FCS and Futures compatible, in solid fiberglass.
The True Ames twinzer set — two main fins plus two canards, FCS and Futures compatible, in solid fiberglass.
A twinzer runs four fins, but not as a quad: each main fin gets a small canard set just ahead of and outside it. The canard sheds a vortex over the main fin, which lets the main fin hold at a steeper angle than it otherwise would. The result is twin-fin speed and looseness with more hold than a twin has any right to.
Best on a twin-fin or a fish you already like but wish held a little longer in a steeper section. It keeps the twin's speed rather than damping it the way a trailer fin does.
Born after a few different rounds of template design and R&D, with balance and synergy between the front canard fins and rear twin design -- a twin that holds and drives like a bigger fin but stays loose and fast down the line.
Run this on a board shaped with Twinzer boxes when you want a twin's freedom plus the bite, lift, and speed the canards add off the rail. It only works with the placement built for it -- on a plain twin board, run a standard twin set instead.
The TA Twinzer is True Ames's four-fin twinzer set in solid fiberglass, FCS/Futures compatible: two main rear twins plus two smaller canards that seat slightly forward of and outside the mains, close to the rail. The canards break water tension before it reaches the main fins. It is sold as a four-fin set and requires a board built with Twinzer boxes.
