Two days after the last session all four Beatles ever recorded together, on 22 August 1969, they met at Tittenhurst Park β John and Yoko's newly occupied estate near Ascot β and let Ethan Russell and Monte Fresco photograph them wandering the grounds. Nobody called it a farewell; it simply turned out to be the final time the four were photographed as a band. One frame became the cover of the US Hey Jude compilation; the frames this shirt is built from are the meadow shots β the four standing chest-deep in seeded grass, Lennon in the black hat, all beards and finished patience. As an all-over print it treats them the way that day treated them: figures disappearing into a landscape. Tittenhurst "last photo session" all-over prints are a collected design β vintage examples, some carrying Apple labels, turn up on eBay under exactly that name. Within a month, Lennon had privately told the others he was leaving.
