Craig McCracken invented the Powerpuff Girls at CalArts in 1992 under a name no network could air — the student short was called "Whoopass Stew!" — and by the time Cartoon Network launched the series in November 1998, sugar, spice, everything nice and Chemical X were a national franchise. The front sets the three inside a big lavender heart, Blossom front and center; the back sends them all flying at you over LET'S GO! in fat yellow letters; the collar holds a Hanes 100% cotton tag, a standard blank of turn-of-the-millennium license printing. What made the show land — and what makes the tees collected now — is that it played both rooms: kindergarten-cute girls drawn in sharp midcentury-modernist style, throwing punches choreographed for the older audience watching after school. Vintage Powerpuff tees from the 1999–2001 wave are a real resale lane, listing from around $90 to $275, with a deadstock 1999 Warner Bros. Studio Store tee listed at $130.
