The Fin
The Storm Rider is Christian Beamish's upright single fin for True Ames — a performance template for progressive single-fin boards.
One size, 7.75", in smoke, solid fiberglass, for a single or longboard box. Beamish shapes for Surfboards California in the Santa Barbara area and worked through templates with True Ames to find one that suited the progressive single fins he builds. The outline is upright, with a medium base and a full tip area. The influences he names are Brewer, Parrish and Yater, with his own elements on top of them, and the aim was a single fin that reaches parts of a wave a single fin usually cannot.
How that reads
The upright profile shortens the turning radius: the board pivots off the tail instead of arcing around a swept-back fin, and it releases off the top instead of holding through and stalling. The medium base keeps enough drive to project out of a bottom turn, and the full tip is what the fin holds on with when a section stands up. Response is immediate rather than gradual.
Who it suits
Progressive single fins and mid-lengths ridden hard off the tail — boards drawn for turning rather than trimming. Surfers who want single-fin flow but are not willing to give up the top turn to get it. If long drawn arcs and glide are the priority instead, a raked classic template is the other direction to go.

More About This Fin
A 7.75" fiberglass single fin developed by Christian Beamish of Surfboards California in collaboration with True Ames, built to pair with his round-pin, channel-bottom Stormrider mid-lengths. The template draws on the upright Brewer, Parrish, and Yater single-fin tradition, with an upright profile, low rake, medium base, and full tip area. It comes in one size only. Intended for performance single-fin mid-lengths in the 7'0" to 7'10" range, particularly channeled or lightly concaved designs surfed off the tail.
