The Fin
Canards are the small lead fins of a twinzer — a pair set forward of and outboard from the twins — made by True Ames for FCS boxes.
A pair in solid fiberglass, FCS compatible, in smoke, with the cant angle chosen at checkout. They are drawn to be paired with a twin template: sit them just forward of the twins and further out toward the rail and the twinzer setup they make behaves like neither a plain twin nor a quad. The inside foil is flat. Small as they are, they are not locked to one layout — the pair works in a number of combinations across different shapes and board sizes.
How that reads
Two small fins set forward and outboard put bite in the water where the rail engages first, so a turn starts earlier and the twins behind them keep working further through it. Because that area sits ahead of the feet, none of it stiffens the tail, and the board still releases. Cant sets how upright the pair stands: flat drives straight ahead, and more angle trades some of that drive for lift as the board goes on rail.
Who it suits
Twin fin boards with the extra forward plugs — fishes and modern twins built to run twinzer. Worth trying in other combinations too, across a range of shapes and sizes, which is what the template was drawn to allow. Pick the cant to suit how upright the plugs in your board already sit.

Placed just forward of and outside the main twins, they break the water tension before it reaches the twins, adding lift and reducing drag — and the more cant you give the canard, the more bite you get through a turn.
Our take
Buy these only if your board has canard boxes set ahead of its twin boxes and you want to run a true Twinzer — more hold and drive while keeping the loose, free feel of a twin. If your board is a standard twin without canard boxes, these won't help: run a pure twin like the Hobie Fish or Boomerang Twin instead, or add a small trailer for hold.
More About This Fin
The True Ames Canards are small lead fins made in solid fiberglass with FCS-compatible bases and a flat inside foil. They mount just forward of and outboard of a twin set's main fins, near the rail, in dedicated canard boxes, completing a Twinzer layout. The cant built into the box installation tunes the setup, and they are not designed to work as side bites or standalone fins.
