The Fin

The original Channel Islands twin template, dating to the early 1980s — in Hexcore, FCS compatible.

A pair of twin fins, 5.62" deep on a 5.0" base, 20.47 sq in of area, with a flat inside foil. This is the outline CI ran on their twins the first time around, and it is a looser fin than the Mark Richards-style twin of the same era.

How that reads

Less hold than an MR template means the tail breaks free earlier and the turning radius is shorter — fast and skatey rather than locked in. Add a small trailing centre fin and the same pair behaves like a very loose thruster: you keep the speed of a twin and pick up the positive drive of a three-fin set. Hexcore is the lighter lay-up, which keeps the set feeling quick underfoot.

Who it suits

Twin-fin boards with FCS boxes, ridden for speed and freedom rather than hold. A good pick if your current twin feels stiff, and a good starting point if you want to experiment with a trailer.
