The CI Channel Islands Tri is Al Merrick's thruster set in one listing β small, medium or large, Hexcore or solid fiberglass, FCS or Futures.
One listing for the whole family: pick the size, the box and the construction at checkout. These are among the longest-standing templates in the True Ames line, drawn in conjunction with the Channel Islands team, with a clean foil and balanced flex behind them β dependable drive, easy release, and a set that suits a wide range of boards and conditions. High rake with full area is the common thread through all three sizes; the small set adds a shorter rear fin that loosens the tail.
High rake sweeps the tip back behind the base, so turns draw out long and the fin keeps something to push against the whole way through. Full area is hold: the board tracks where it is pointed and holds its speed under load rather than sliding out from under it. Going down a size takes area out, most of it out of the rear fin, and that is what frees the tail and shortens the turn.
Thrusters, across most of what a season throws up β which is why these templates have stayed in the line so long. Bigger surfers and solid surf point toward the large set; lighter riders and smaller, punchier waves toward the small. Choose the box your board takes and the construction you want at checkout.
