The Fin

The centre fin from the CI Mid, 6.5" in solid fiberglass — a single fin drawn for a mid-length rather than borrowed from a longboard.

Channel Islands developed the CI Mid with Devon Howard, and this is the fin that goes with it: 6.5", solid fiberglass, for a standard single-fin or longboard box. On a mid-length that height is the middle ground — enough depth to hold a line once the board has speed, short enough that it still turns off the tail rather than swinging around a big pivot fin.

How that reads

A 6.5" fin in a longboard box is the usual answer for boards in the 6' to 8' range: more hold and more drive than a shortboard-length fin, far less anchor than the 8" and 9" fins cut for logs. Run it on its own, or as the centre of a 2+1 if the board has side plugs as well.
