The Fin
The Noriega Twin is Danny Hess's twin-fin template for True Ames — a wide-based fin drawn for down-the-line speed on fish-type boards.
A pair in solid fiberglass, Futures compatible, in clear or smoke. The base is wider than the fin is tall — 6.30" across under 5.04" of height — which is keel proportion, and it is what turns a long rail line into speed. Hess is a surfboard builder before he is a fin designer, and he drew this one for glide and trim: endless down-the-line speed, smooth arcing turns, and transitions that do not have to be forced.
How that reads
Base is drive. A wide one keeps the fin locked in through the middle of a turn and pushes the board forward out of it, which is why the pair runs so fast down the line. The low, raked profile keeps the tip out of the way, so a turn stays smooth rather than pivoting sharply — a set for arcs, not for snaps. On a fish it reads as speed that takes very little work to hold on to.
Who it suits
Fishes and fish-type twins with Futures boxes — anything wide in the tail that is ridden for speed and flow. Surfers who want to draw long lines and link sections rather than turn hard off the tail. Not the pair to pick if the board is meant to feel vertical.

For an alternative fish or wide-tailed twin ridden for glide: long down-the-line speed and smooth, arcing turns with easy rail-to-rail transitions. It is not built for tight, snappy surfing -- quick acceleration and pivot off the tail is a different fin's job.

The Danny Hess Noriega Twin is a twin-keel fin set designed by San Francisco shaper Danny Hess and made by True Ames in solid fiberglass with Futures-compatible bases. The template has a wide base and substantial area, designed for alternative-style fishes and wide-tailed twins. Hess conceived the Noriega as the twin in his lineup, with a matched quad intended for bigger, more powerful waves.
