The Fin

True Ames’ own performance twin — sized slightly smaller than a standard upright twin, but with the base and tip area kept full. Solid fiberglass, Futures compatible.

A pair of twins measuring 5.10" deep on a 4.96" base, 19.28 sq in of area, on a 3/4" Futures base with a 6.5° angle and a flat inside foil, in a raw sanded finish. True Ames drew it to cover both established twin shapes and the newer, more experimental ones.

How that reads

Taking depth out of a twin usually costs hold. Keeping the base wide and carrying area through the tip is how this template gets it back: the base drives off the bottom, the tip area holds through a carve, and the reduced overall size is what lets the tail still release when you want it. The 6.5° cant and the flat inside foil are conventional twin settings — firm, stable, and quick to generate lift.

Who it suits

Twin-fin boards with Futures boxes across a wide band of conditions, from beachbreak to solid overhead surf. It is a smaller fin that has not been made a weaker one, so it suits a rider who found a full-size performance twin stiff without wanting to give up hold.
