The Fin

Rich Pavel's Dialed In quad — double-foiled front and rear, so it keeps the drive of his Speed Dialer but turns in the pocket instead of only down the line.

Four fins in solid fiberglass, Futures compatible, in smoke. The change Pavel makes here is the foil: all four fins are foiled on both faces rather than running flat inside faces at the back of the set. Same family as his Speed Dialer, and the same drive — put to work in a different part of the wave.

How that reads

A flat inside face makes a fin efficient in a straight line, which is why a quad can end up feeling like it only wants to run down the face. Foiling both sides of every fin costs a little of that outright speed and buys the ability to turn where the wave is steepest, so the set works in the pocket rather than out on the shoulder where a fast quad usually ends up.

Who it suits

Fish and Pavel's own shapes ridden as quads, in surf with a pocket worth being in. It is the quad to take when the board is fast enough already and what you want back is the ability to turn tight.
