A 7.25" performance single fin on a wide base, the Surfy Surfy template by J.P St. Pierre, for shorter single fin boards and the centre of a 2+1.
One size, 7.25", in black solid fiberglass for a standard longboard box. The base is wide for a fin this height, 5.255", and the foil is 50/50, so it is drawn for balance rather than either extreme: hold when the wave asks for it, still loose and lively once the board is on rail. St. Pierre's template is aimed squarely at 2+1 set-ups and at shorter performance single fins, where a full-size log fin would be too much area.
How that reads
A short fin on a wide base puts the drive low down, near where the back foot is, so the board projects out of a turn instead of leaning on tip area to hold. The 50/50 foil keeps it behaving the same on both tacks, which is what a centre fin flanked by side bites wants — no bias built in. Enough hold to trust on rail, little enough up top that the tail still breaks free.
Who it suits
Eggs, high-performance longboards and mid-lengths: as the single fin in a shorter board, or as the anchor in a 2+1 where the side bites take on the holding. Not enough height for a traditional log you intend to stand on the nose of.
