Tyler Warren non-stock shape. A little bit of Air and Zipper but with channels.
A step-up inspired by the flat-deck shortboards before they got real chippy, with a hint of modern rails and bottoms for ease of ride. Just enough rocker for a fluid ride and lots of drive. Subtle beak nose. The Air is Tyler’s flat-deck progressive shortboard; the Zipper is a diamond tail thruster he designed with Midget Smith in 2006. This board takes elements of both and adds deep channels running through the tail.
How the Channels Work
Channels compress water through the curve of the tail rocker, generating bursts of speed—the back foot feels like a gas pedal. The “Deep Six” channel style has roots in late-’80s SoCal surfing, popularized by Matt Archbold. Tyler’s version adds hold and directional speed through the tail without losing the lively feel of a shorter board. You feel them most on rail when the wave is pushing.
This is a non-stock shape—a one-off custom, not one of Tyler’s cataloged models. That’s what you’re getting: a hand-shaped original from one of the most versatile shapers working today.
The Shaper
Hand-shaped by Tyler Warren in Dana Point, California. Warren shaped his first board at 14, mentored by Hobie legend Terry Martin, and has since worked alongside Chris Christenson, Josh Hall, Robin Kegel, and Malcolm Campbell. He made the cover of Surfer Magazine riding a self-shaped single fin at Desert Point. Every Tyler Warren board is shaped by Tyler himself—one guy, one shaping bay, behind his house in Dana Point.
