Solid fiberglass for a standard longboard centre box, in 9.75", 10.25" and 10.75", in black, red, honey or white, with a flat matte finish. Warren set out to get pivot, drive and turning ability into one template, and the outline is where he settled it: a big profile with a broad base for hold, then rake and relief through the tip so the tail can still be let go. The flex is stiff, and deliberately so.
The surface area low in the fin is what keeps you solid when you are on the nose β the tail stays in the water and the board holds its line without being steered. The rake and the tip relief are the release: step back over the fin and it will pivot and carve instead of tracking on. Stiff fiberglass keeps all of that predictable, with no lag between what the back foot does and what the board does.
Longboards and noseriders where tip time matters but so do turns β traditional longboarding without giving up present-day performance. The 10.75" for a heavier board or more wave, the 9.75" if you want the tail freer under you. Riders who spend the whole ride in trim, and never step back, can get away with less rake than this.
Built to maximize both tip time and carving ability.
Put it on a single-fin log where you want nose time without giving up the ability to surf off the tail, and use box position to lean it one way or the other. If you only ever noseride and want maximum planted-tail authority, the Yater Pivot is the more specialized call.
The Tyler Warren Pivot is a longboard single fin designed by Tyler Warren and made by True Ames. The outline carries large surface area low and forward, a healthy amount of rake, and relief near the tip. It comes in three sizes, 9.75 inch, 10.25 inch, and 10.75 inch, and is intended for traditional and progressive logs.
