Tyler Warren Side Bites

A pair of Tyler Warren side bites in solid fiberglass, drawn small on purpose so a 2+1 or a single fin keeps its own character.

Sold as a pair, Futures compatible, in honey or black solid fiberglass. The point of a side bite is to add something without changing everything, and the outline and foil here are held back for that reason: the centre fin still decides how the board behaves, and these put control, drive and rail engagement around it. What you notice afterwards is not a different board but the same one holding where it used to wash out, with the trim and flow that define traditional surfing left where they were. Tyler Warren drew the template.

How that reads

Side bites work out at the rail rather than under the tail, so the board gains something to lean on through a turn without gaining the area that would take the glide out of it. A 2+1 keeps its long-line trim, a single fin keeps its pivot, and the tail holds through a harder turn instead of letting go early. Pull them out of the plugs and the board is exactly what it was before.

Who it suits

Boards with side plugs that do not need filling every session: a single fin that gets loose once the surf has size, a 2+1 mid-length you want holding a higher line through a section. Also the fix when a board arrived with side bites big enough to bully the centre fin out of the picture.
