Dare Jennings had already built one enormous Australian clothing brand before this one: Mambo, started in 1984 out of the art room of his screen-printing shop and famous for shirts too loud to be worn quietly. He left it in 2002, and in 2006 opened Deus Ex Machina in Sydney β a workshop that built custom motorcycles and surfboards, sold clothes, and put a cafe in the middle of it, so that the merchandise and the machines shared a floor. The name is the stage machinery of Greek theater, the god winched in to end a play no character could finish; applying it to a motorcycle shop is a joke about what a machine is for. Which makes a mesh moto jersey the most on-brand object the label could make. The open weave is racing's answer to heat, the long sleeves are racing's answer to roost, and the Deus script with EX MACHINA and the winged mark underneath is doing none of that β the shape of competition, repurposed as clothing.
Deus Ex Machina mesh motocross-style jersey in black and white colorway. Features "Deus" script logo with "EX MACHINA" text and winged logo detail. Long sleeves with mesh fabric throughout.
