The Details
This one is the studio's own artwork rather than a bootlegger's reading of it. The back carries the film's logotype — NATURAL BORN KILLERS in interlocking red, blue and black serif capitals, AN OLIVER STONE FILM beneath it, and a © 1994 Warner Bros. line set small in the corner, which dates the design to the year of release. The front is the promotional portrait of Harrelson as Mickey, halftoned down to grey with only the round lenses left red: a face and a pair of glasses, the whole campaign in one image. Where the black shirt collages everything the film contains, this one withholds all of it — the restraint is what makes it read as the licensed piece. The neck tag reads ONEITA, an American blank maker whose shirts printers bought by the crate through that decade. Mid-90s promo tees were printed for cinema staff, press and video stores as much as for sale.
