このフィンについて
2.6" のサイドバイト二本一組、ソリッドファイバーグラス製です。フラットフォイルで、FCS のタブがひとつだけ切られているため、各フィンをボックスの前寄りにも後ろ寄りにも収められます。
高さ 2.60"、ベース 2.25" のソリッドファイバーグラス製で、二本一組。カラーはスモーク、クリア、ケルプからお選びいただけます。フォイルはフラット、断面は薄く、水を押す抵抗をあまり増やすことなく、レール際での掛かりを足します。FCS のベースはタブが二つではなくひとつです。前側のタブに合わせて差し込めばボードは軽快になり、後ろ側のタブに残せばドライブがわずかに増します。小さな役割を的確にこなす、小さなフィンです。
どう感じられるか
サイドバイトはテールではなくレールで働きます。レールラインの近くに置かれた背の低いフラットフォイルのフィンは、ターンの間にボードを預けられる支点となり、波が立ち上がったときには掴まる場所になります。しかもボードの性格を変えてしまうほどの面積は足しません。シングルフィンはシングルフィンのまま、ツインフィンはツインフィンのままですが、テールが早々に流れ出すことがなくなり、トリムしているボードはより高いラインを保てます。
どんな方に向くか
サイドのプラグが二つあるものの、常に埋めておきたいわけではないボードに。波にサイズが出るとルースになりすぎるシングルフィンやツインフィン、より長く高いラインを保たせたいミッドレングスなどです。もともと付いていたサイドバイトが大きすぎると感じる場合の答えにもなります。レール際の面積を減らすことが、たいていの解決策です。

Sidebites are usually pushed forward in hollower waves.
Changes between side bite positions are subtle differences on different waves or days to experiment with rather than night and day.
Run these on a log or mid-length 2+1 when you want the most subtle possible addition to a single fin, especially on a noserider you don't want to stiffen. They're insurance for steep drops, not a power source; if you want side bites that drive you through carves, size up to the 3.25.
The 2.6" Side Bites are the smallest side bites True Ames makes, sold as a pair in solid fiberglass with an FCS-compatible single-tab base. The template runs a flat foil, narrow base, and ultra-thin section, and the single tab allows positioning forward for a looser feel or back for more drive. They are designed to flank a center fin in a 2+1 setup on logs and mid-lengths, and the same template is also offered in a Futures version.
