The Fin
A pair of 2.6" side bites in solid fiberglass, flat-foiled and cut with a single FCS tab so each fin can sit forward or back in the box.
2.60" deep on a 2.25" base, in solid fiberglass, sold as a set of two in smoke, clear or kelp. The foil is flat and the section is thin, so the pair adds bite at the rail without adding much to push through the water. The FCS base carries one tab rather than two: slide a fin up to the front tab and the board feels quicker, leave it on the back tab and there is a little more drive. It is a small fin doing a small, specific job.
How that reads
Side bites work at the rail rather than at the tail. A short flat-foiled fin out near the rail line gives the board something to lean against through a turn and something to grip with when the wave stands up, without adding the area that would change what the board is. A single fin stays a single fin, a twin stays a twin, but the tail stops sliding out early and a trimming board holds a higher line.
Who it suits
Boards with two side plugs you do not always want filled: a single fin or twin that gets loose once the surf has some size, a mid-length you want holding a longer high line. Also the answer when a board came with side bites that feel too big — taking area out near the rail is usually the fix.

Changes between side bite positions are subtle differences on different waves or days to experiment with rather than night and day.
Our take
Run these on a log or mid-length 2+1 when you want the most subtle possible addition to a single fin, especially on a noserider you don't want to stiffen. They're insurance for steep drops, not a power source; if you want side bites that drive you through carves, size up to the 3.25.
More About This Fin
The 2.6" Side Bites are the smallest side bites True Ames makes, sold as a pair in solid fiberglass with an FCS-compatible single-tab base. The template runs a flat foil, narrow base, and ultra-thin section, and the single tab allows positioning forward for a looser feel or back for more drive. They are designed to flank a center fin in a 2+1 setup on logs and mid-lengths, and the same template is also offered in a Futures version.
